OTTAWA — Brady Tkachuk scored 3:30 into overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 3-2 win against the Montreal Canadiens at Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday.
Tkachuk, who also had an assist, skated above the goal line and attempted a pass to Erik Brannstrom, but the puck hit a skate and bounced back to him for a shot from the slot.
Drake Batherson and Josh Norris scored, and Matt Murray made 30 saves for the Senators (5-14-1), who are 3-2-0 in their past five games.
Nick Suzuki and Corey Perry scored, and Jake Allen made 36 saves for the Canadiens (9-5-3), who have one win in their past five games (1-3-1).
Suzuki’s wrist shot on the rush went in off the right post to give Montreal a 1-0 lead at 1:17 of the first period.
Batherson tied it 1-1 at 9:47 when his attempted shot following a toe drag shot tipped off Canadiens defenseman Alexander Romanov‘s stick and floated over Allen.
Norris tipped a point shot from Nikita Zaitsev to give Ottawa a 2-1 lead at 3:33 of the third.
Perry deked Senators defenseman Erik Gudbranson and then tucked the puck around Murray’s outstretched left pad to tie it 2-2 at 14:35.
Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin left the game after a hit from Senators defenseman Mike Reilly near the end of the second period.
