Tierney scores two power-play goals, Senators defeat Stars

OTTAWA — Chris Tierney scored two power-play goals for the Ottawa Senators in a 3-2 win against the Dallas Stars at Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday.

Connor Brown had three assists, and Filip Gustavsson made 32 saves in his season debut for the Senators (2-1-0).

Joe Pavelski and Michael Raffl scored, and Radek Faksa had two assists for the Stars (1-2-0), who have lost their past two games. Anton Khudobin made 24 saves.

Raffl one-timed a centering pass from Alexander Radulov to give the Stars a 1-0 lead at 4:34 of the first period.

Nick Paul spun off Stars defenseman Ryan Suter in the slot and scored with a backhand into the top right corner to tie it 1-1 at 5:24.

Shane Pinto‘s chip shot bounced off Tierney’s chest and in on the power play to make it 2-1 at 9:20 of the second period.

Tierney scored his second of the game when he redirected a cross-crease pass from Zach Sanford on the power play to make it 3-1 at 19:00. Brown got his 100th NHL assist.

Pavelski scored on a loose puck at the edge of the crease at 14:17 of the third period for the 3-2 final.
