The tournament is scheduled to be held Dec. 25-Jan. 5 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, with no fans in the building and in a secure zone similar to what the NHL used for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Teams are scheduled to arrive in Edmonton on Dec. 13.

Sweden’s camp, which includes 34 players, will take place in a secure zone in Sundsvall, Sweden, from Dec. 6-13. Nine players will be released before the team travels to Edmonton on Dec. 13. Sweden will play two exhibition games, against Canada on Dec. 21 and Switzerland on Dec. 22.

Raymond (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) has scored 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 21 games this season with Frolunda in the Swedish Hockey League. The 18-year-old right-handed shot scored four points (two goals, two assists) in seven games to help Sweden to a third-place finish at the 2020 World Junior Championship.

Raymond is one of two players selected in the first round of the 2020 draft that will be at the camp, along with forward Alexander Holtz (No. 7, New Jersey Devils). Four players picked in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft were invited: defensemen Philip Broberg (No. 8, Edmonton Oilers), Victor Soderstrom (No. 11, Arizona Coyotes) and Tobias Bjornfot (No. 22, Los Angeles Kings), and forward Simon Holmstrom (No. 23, New York Islanders).

The camp also will include four players who received an A rating on NHL Central Scouting’s preliminary players to watch list for the 2021 NHL Draft: goalie Jesper Wallstedt (6-2, 214), defenseman Simon Edvinsson (6-4, 198), and forwards William Eklund (5-10, 170) and Simon Robertsson (6-foot, 190). Players with an A rating are considered potential first-round picks.

Sweden will begin play in Group B in the preliminary round against the Czech Republic on Dec. 26, followed by games against Austria (Dec. 28), Russia (Dec. 30) and the United States (Dec. 31). Group A consists of Canada, Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia and Germany.

The top four teams in each group will play in the quarterfinals Jan. 2. The semifinals are Jan. 4, and the championship and third-place games are Jan. 5.

Sweden hasn’t lost a preliminary-round tournament game in 13 years. The 52-game unbeaten streak includes 45 wins in regulation, three in overtime and four in a shootout. Sweden’s last loss in the preliminary round was 3-2 in overtime against the United States on Dec. 31, 2006.

Sweden has won one WJC championship during their streak, in 2012.

Games will be broadcast in the United States on NHL Network.
