NASHVILLE — Juuse Saros made 29 saves and Filip Forsberg scored for the Nashville Predators in their 3-1 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Bridgestone Arena on Thursday in the season opener for each team.
Luke Kunin scored in his debut with the Predators. Calle Jarnkrok also scored for Nashville.
Boone Jenner scored and Joonas Korpisalo made 32 saves for the Blue Jackets.
Forsberg gave the Predators a 2-1 lead at 5:48 of the third period on a wrist shot from the left circle. He led a 2-on-1 rush and beat Korpisalo. Brad Richardson, who signed a one-year contract with the Predators on Oct. 12, got the assist after winning a face-off in the defensive zone.
Jenner gave the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead at 9:24 of the first period on a breakaway. Predators defenseman Dante Fabbro turned the puck over to Jenner at the blue line, and Jenner beat Saros.
Kunin scored for the Predators to make it 1-1 at 13:09 of the second period on an odd-man rush with Matt Duchene. Kunin was traded to the Predators from the Minnesota Wild on Oct. 7. Erik Haula, who signed a one-year contract with the Predators on Dec. 23, had an assist on the goal.
Jarnkrok scored an empty-net goal at 18:27 of the third to give the Predators a 3-1 lead.
