ST. LOUIS — Ryan O’Reilly scored a hat trick and had an assist to help the St. Louis Blues end a three-game losing streak with a 5-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche at Enterprise Center on Saturday.
Brayden Schenn and Torey Krug each had two assists and Jordan Binnington made 27 saves for the Blues (20-19-6).
Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and two assists to extend the NHL’s longest current point streak to 13 games, Cale Makar had a goal and two assists and Devan Dubnyk made 25 saves for the Avalanche (31-10-4), whose five-game winning streak ended.
It was the second off a three-game series. Colorado won 4-2 on Thursday in its first game back from a COVID-19 pause, and the series concludes Monday.
The Avalanche scored two goals in the opening 3:01 of the game to take a 2-0 lead. Makar’s power-play goal with a two-man advantage at 1:37 made it 1-0, and Gabriel Landeskog‘s goal at 3:01 made it 2-0.
The Blues scored three unanswered goals in the first. O’Reilly’s first at 9:49 made it 2-1, his 600th NHL point. O’Reilly tied it 2-2 at 12:40 and Ivan Barbashev gave the Blues their first lead, 3-2, at 17:48.
MacKinnon’s power-play goal at 8:10 of the second period tied it 3-3.
Mike Hoffman‘s one-timer from the right circle came with a two-man advantage at 11:19 to give the Blues a 4-3 lead.
O’Reilly completed his second hat trick of the season third in the NHL at 18:25 of the third with an empty-net goal to make it 5-3.
Blues defenseman Colton Parayko left after the first period due to an upper-body injury. He played 5:32, had one assist and was plus-2.
