Nutivaara traded to Panthers by Blue Jackets for Pu


Markus Nutivaara was traded to the Florida Panthers by the Columbus Blue Jackets for Cliff Pu on Thursday.

The 26-year-old defenseman has two seasons remaining on a four-year contract he signed with the Blue Jackets on March 29, 2018. He scored nine points (three goals, six assists) in 37 games and was minus-1 in two postseason games this season.

Pu, a 22-year-old forward, has yet to play an NHL game. He played this season for Springfield of the American Hockey League and Greenville of the ECHL.

Panthers GM Bill Zito had been an assistant GM with the Blue Jackets for seven seasons prior to being hired by Florida on Sept. 2.
