Teams took to social media and broke out their best memes, GIFs and gags in order to celebrate the start of a new season.

The New York Islanders welcomed hockey back with a clip from the popular TV series “Schitt’s Creek.”

With divisions being realigned, the Carolina Hurricanes went to the old stock footage bin to scout out their new Central Division rivals.

Another factor in having new divisions, including the North which features all seven Canadian teams, is that the Tkachuk brothers, Matthew and Brady, will see plenty of each other.

Speaking of teams in Canada, the Montral Canadiens went with the “Vibing Cat” meme to express their excitement.

The Dallas Stars decided to post forward Jamie Benn in a cowboboy hat with “Giddy up y’all” on their post.

The San Jose Sharks employed a well-known GIF of Michael Scott from “The Office.”

The Buffalo Sabres players were pretty happy about things. At least the photos they used of forwards Jack Eichel and Jeff Skinner, defenseman Rasmus Dahlin and goalie Carter Hutton implied they were.

But there is one team that won’t be participating in this upcoming season, but do not worry, the Seattle Kraken had a meme for that.

The 2020-21 regular season is scheduled to end May 8.
