Matheson fined for actions in Panthers game against Islanders

NEW YORK (Aug. 4, 2020) – Florida Panthers defenseman Mike Matheson has been fined $2,500 for high-sticking New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson during Game 2 of the teams’ Stanley Cup Qualifiers series in Toronto, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 6:15 of the first period. Matheson was assessed a double-minor penalty for high-sticking.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
