Lafreniere propels Rangers past Predators for third straight win

NASHVILLE — Alexis Lafreniere had a goal and an assist for the New York Rangers in their third straight win, 3-1 against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Thursday.

Lafreniere gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead at 10:53 of the third period on a rush with Sammy Blais. Adam Fox gave the puck to Blais in the offensive zone, and he passed to Lafreniere for the tap-in.

Igor Shesterkin made 28 saves, and Blais had two assists for the Rangers (3-1-1). Each of their three straight wins have come on the road.

Philip Tomasino scored his first NHL goal for the Predators (1-3-0). Juuse Saros made 27 saves.

Filip Chytil gave New York a 1-0 lead at 2:12 of the first period on a backhand shot after a pass from Blais.

Tomasino tied it 1-1 at 7:01 of the second on a shot from behind the net that banked off Shesterkin.

Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren had a goal taken away at 5:31 of the third period after the Predators successfully challenged for offside.

Barclay Goodrow scored an empty-net goal with six seconds left for the 3-1 final.
