WINNIPEG — Mason Appleton scored twice, and the Winnipeg Jets won 4-1 against the Calgary Flames at Bell MTS Place on Thursday.
Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves. It was Hellebuyck’s 153rd win with the Jets, passing Ondrej Pavelec (152) for the most in Jets/Atlanta Thrashers history.
Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele also scored for the Jets (7-3-1), and Mathieu Perreault had three assists.
The Jets won 3-2 on Tuesday and took two of three straight games in Winnipeg. Calgary won 4-3 in a shootout on Monday.
Andrew Mangiapane scored for the Flames (4-5-1) and Jacob Markstrom made 23 saves.
Mangiapane made it 1-0 Flames at 19:04 of the first period.
Appleton tied the game 1-1 at 3:31 of the second period. Connor’s breakaway goal gave the Jets a 2-1 lead at 13:59 before Scheifele made it 3-1 at 19:09.
Appleton scored into an empty net at 18:38 of the third period.
Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau‘s season-opening point streak ended at nine games (six goals, five assists). It is longest such streak by a Flames player since 2013-14, when Jiri Hudler had 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in Calgary’s first nine games.
Jets defenseman Dylan DeMelo left the game after blocking a shot midway through the first period.
