Kevin Hayes scored a power-play goal at 4:22 of overtime and Joel Farabee got his first NHL hat trick to lift the Philadelphia Flyers to their fourth straight win, 4-3 against the New York Islanders at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday.
Hayes scored on a blocker-side one-timer from above the left hash marks at 4:22 of overtime.
The Flyers (7-2-1) also defeated the Islanders 3-2 in overtime on Saturday.
Farabee, 20, scored his three goals in a span of 17:10 across the first two periods. He is the third player in Flyers history to score a hat trick before his 21st birthday, joining Eric Lindros (four times) and Mike Richards.
Brian Elliott made 33 saves and James van Riemsdyk had three assists.
Josh Bailey and Mathew Barzal scored in the third period for the Islanders, who rallied from 3-1 but lost their fifth in row (0-3-2). Nick Leddy also scored, and Ilya Sorokin made 25 saves.
Sorokin has lost his first three NHL starts, allowing 11 goals.
The Islanders’ comeback started with Bailey’s first goal of the season at 1:03 of the third period to make it 3-2.
Barzal tied it 3-3 by scoring off the rush at 6:27.
Farabee scored his first goal at 18:42 of the first period to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead.
