Mark Giordano made a promise and he kept it.
The Calgary Flames defenseman celebrated his son Jack’s birthday on Sunday. While sitting at 499 career points, the team captain told his son he’d get number 500 mark against the Toronto Maple Leafs just for him.
When Giordano assisted on Joakim Nordstrom‘s first period goal, the prophecy came true.
“It feels good,” Giordano said in an interview during the first intermission of the game. “I got my little guy Jack at home. It’s his birthday today so I told him I’d get it for him… So that one’s for you buddy.”
For Jack Giordano, who celebrated his eighth birthday on Sunday, that’s a tough gift to top.
