DeBrincat, Blackhawks top Stars in OT

Alex DeBrincat scored his second goal of the game 2:56 into overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 2-1 win against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center on Sunday.

Patrick Kane sent a pass to the slot for DeBrincat, who lifted it over Jake Oettinger‘s glove.

Kane had two assists, and Malcolm Subban made 30 saves for Chicago (5-4-4), which has won two straight and is 5-1-3 in its past nine games.

Jason Robertson scored his first NHL goal for the Stars (5-2-2), who are 1-2-2 after a 4-0-0 start. Oettinger made 33 saves in place of Anton Khudobin, who was scratched due to team discipline.

DeBrincat appeared to score at 4:11 of the first period, but the goal was waved off due to a high stick.

DeBrincat then gave the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead at 12:29 of the second period, shooting into an open net on the power play after receiving a backdoor pass from Dylan Strome.

Miro Heiskanen almost tied it at 18:10 of the second. His wrist shot from the slot hit the crossbar and bounced off the back of Subban before Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy cleared the puck out of the crease with his glove.

Subban kept it 1-0 with a left-toe save against Denis Gurianov 1:33 into the third period, but Robertson tied it at 9:31 when Heiskanen’s shot from the point bounced out of Subban’s glove and off his right hip into the net.

Alexander Radulov did not play for Dallas because of a lower-body injury.
