SAN JOSE — Logan Couture scored 1:00 into overtime to give the San Jose Sharks a 3-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings at SAP Center on Tuesday.
Couture, who missed three games while in NHL COVID-19 protocol, scored while lying on his stomach in front of the net. The goal was confirmed on video review.
Timo Meier and Jeffrey Viel scored, and Brent Burns had three assists for the second straight game for the Sharks (20-16-1) who started a four-game homestand with their third straight win. Adin Hill made 17 saves.
Tyler Bertuzzi and Nick Leddy scored, and Filip Hronek had two assists for the Red Wings (16-16-5), who finished 0-1-2 on their California road trip. Alex Nedeljkovic made 37 saves.
Meier scored on a power play at 14:24 of the first period to put San Jose ahead 1-0. Jonathan Dahlen set Meier up with a cross-ice pass.
Bertuzzi tied the game 1-1 at 19:38 of the second period on a power play when he tipped a shot from Hronek past Hill’s stick.
Leddy scored his first goal of the season at 1:48 of the third period to give Detroit a 2-1 lead before Viel tied it 2-2 at 3:18.
