LAS VEGAS — The St. Louis Blues clinched a Stanley Cup Playoff berth Friday, losing 4-3 in overtime to the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena.
Jonathan Marchessault won it for the Golden Knights with 18 seconds left after they rallied from down two goals.
Ryan O’Reilly, David Perron and Jaden Schwartz scored for St. Louis (24-19-9), which is 5-0-3 in its past eight games. Jordan Binnington made 31 saves.
Reilly Smith, Alec Martinez and Nicolas Roy scored for Vegas (38-13-2), which improved to 9-0 in overtime this season. Robin Lehner made 22 saves.
The teams will play again here Saturday.
Smith gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead at 13:23 of the first period.
O’Reilly scored shorthanded at 18:08 to tie it 1-1. Tyler Bozak forced a turnover and passed to O’Reilly in the left face-off circle.
Perron gave the Blues a 2-1 lead at 14:34 of the second period.
Schwartz scored 1:44 later from a sharp angle to make it 3-1 at 16:18, but Martinez cut it to 3-2 with 10 seconds left in the period.
Roy tied it 3-3 at 6:52 of the third period.
