Avalanche defeat Blues on Makars late goal, push point streak to 14

DENVERCale Makar scored with 41 seconds left in the third period for the Colorado Avalanche, who defeated the St. Louis Blues 2-1 and stretched their point streak to 14 games at Ball Arena on Saturday.

Nathan MacKinnon scored and Philipp Grubauer made 27 saves for Colorado (25-8-4), which has won four straight and is 12-0-2 in its streak.

Ryan O’Reilly scored and Ville Husso made 32 saves for St. Louis (16-15-6), which has lost six straight (0-5-1).

MacKinnon gave the Avalanche a 1-0 lead at 11:27 of the first period on a rush down right wing, shooting over Blues defenseman Torey Krug‘s stick.

O’Reilly tied 1-1 at 18:04 in a goalmouth scramble 11 seconds after a Blues powerplay expired.
